My Summer Family Vacation

Hey everybody!  Can you believe half the summer is already over?  We just got back from our family vacation from Florida, San Destin to be exact.  We love beaches and that’s where you’ll find us every summer.  For the past few years, we’ve vacationed with my best friend and her family.  Our kids are 12 and 10 and way more mature then when I was their age.  We got to do family stuff together, relax as grown ups, and let the kids be kids.  We stayed in the Village of Baytowne Wharf.  It was perfect.  Miramar Beach was just a shuttle ride away, and we were able to easily drive to all the beaches on 30A for a change of scenery.  Restaurants and shops were just outside our doorsteps, and every morning I was able to take a walk or jog around the community.

This was our condo.  We lived on the second story and hung out on the balcony for breakfasts, happy hours, and even nap time.

Believe or not, I love me some donuts!!  Chocolate cake donuts!  A friend suggested this place called the Donut Hole, and oh my goodness, I ended up there every morning and sometimes twice a day!  We tried every donut they made.  Their Chocolate Glazed Devils Food cake donut is to die for, and the very best donut I’ve ever had.  I even brought a dozen back home!  Since we beached every morning, we brought donuts to the beach.  Is there anything better than having donuts with the family on the beach?

Dylan is now into skateboarding.  Right before we left on vacation, I outfitted him with a new skateboard from this cool shop in town called No Comply.  Yup, he had a custom board assembled, lucky kid right?   His daddy is still riding on his old board from 30 years ago.  And this is the summer I will remember that he decided smiling wasn’t cool and that mugshot expressions was the thing to share with his friends.  And as a photog, that’s just exactly what I needed to hear.  But I did manage to capture a few good smiles.

We tend to always do something touristy on vacation.  This year the hubby wanted to go parasailing.  Did you know I have a fear of heights?  Well, I sucked it up and did it.  Though I had wanted to punk out when I was on the boat, but the kid said he was so excited, I didn’t wanna disappoint him.  And let me tell ya, I loved it!  Only time I got scared was when the hubby took a camera out to take us a selfie.  That made me look down at our boat and it was the size of an ant!

We had an awesome time, did a lot of family bonding.  Friends like family bonding too!  We can’t wait for our next beach vacation together!
